If I am injured on the job and cannot work, how long do I have to wait before Income benefits are commenced?

Georgia law allows an employer and its insurer 21 days to investigate whether an employee should receive income benefits after his accident.

How are my income benefits calculated?

An injured worker receives 2/3 of his Average weekly wage. The average weekly wage in Georgia is calculated by taking the 13 weeks before the employee’s date of injury and adding all 13 weeks. After the 13 weeks are added up the attorney divides the sum by 13. That gives the attorney the employee’s average weekly wage. The Average Weekly Wage is then divided by 2/3 to calculate the injured worker’s TTD benefit. The TTD benefit cannot exceed $800.00 per week.
